Redmi Note 5 Pro vs Mi A1: Which is a better midrange Xiaomi?

Image
The Redmi Note 5 Pro and Mi A1 are matched in terms of price, but who’s the better choice? The Mi A1 is for geeks whereas the Redmi Note 5 is a better all-rounder. Since its launch on Valentine’s Day, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has been hogging attention of the consumers and the media alike. Xiaomi has given all of the features that people expect from a new Redmi Note device every year — a new Qualcomm midrange chipset, more than adequate RAM as well as storage, and a pair of improved cameras. Starting at a price of Rs 13,999, the Note 5 Pro can be termed as one of the most value-for-money budget smartphones that one can buy in India currently. However, at exactly Rs 13,999, Xiaomi also sells another of its highly-appreciated budget midrange smartphones — the Mi A1. Launched last September, the Mi A1 was a drastic departure from Xiaomi’s traditional offerings — a nearly stock Android One OS and a pair of dual rear cameras. Currently one of our fav...

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro to have Snapdragon 636, comes on February 14

Image
Xiaomi is making a phone announcement in India on February 14 that is expected to be the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. But some sources point to a second phone announcement, parallel to the Redmi Note 5's - the Redmi Note 5 Pro. It's expected the Pro model will add more horsepower with a Snapdragon 636 over the expected 626 of the Redmi Note 5. However, yet another speculation claims that instead of unveiling new models, Xiaomi will launch the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus for India (officially, they are only available in China at the moment). If the first rumor comes to fruition and the Indian market gets a new Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro then expect 5.7-inch or 5.9-inch 18:9 2160x1080px displays, 3GB/4GB/6GB of RAM, MIUI 9.5 built around Android Nougat and Hybrid SIM slots (either 1 SIM + microSD or 2 SIMs).

Image
After briefly appearing as a Flipkart exclusive  in India and making an appearance in several other markets, Honor’s latest premium budget handset is reportedly headed to Carphone Warehouse. Specifically, the device in question is the Honor 9 Lite but the smartphone still hasn’t made its way to the retailer’s online web page and a search of the site returns no results, as of this writing. With that said, it should be made available in the very near future via the button below. Of course, that means that pricing and other information for the Honor 9 Lite being sold through the site is also not available. Bearing that in mind, the cost for the Honor 9 Lite has ranged from around $188 in India to $278 depending on the region, so it stands to reason that it will be similarly priced when it does hit the site.
