Xiaomi Mi 7 with 8GB RAM, 16MP dual camera could launch in April

Xiaomi is expected to launch at least two high-end smartphones in the coming months. The successor to last year's Mi 6 was previously expected to launch at MWC 2018, but Xiaomi may unveil the Mi Mix 2s at the trade show instead. The Mi 7, on the other hand, is being kept for a standalone event at a later date. We have heard some rumours about what the Mi 7 may bring to the fore, but a leaked screenshot has now surfaced that gives us an even better idea about the Mi 7's innards.
If the screenshot is true, the Mi 7 could come with a 5.65-inch Full-HD+ (1080x2160) display. This contradicts past rumours that the phone will sport a 6-inch display. However, the one aspect that seems certain is that the flagship will sport an 18:9 display with minimal bezels all around. The screenshot also reveals that the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset, which keeps in line with past reports. The specs also lists 8GB of RAM, which is massive, but not surprising as smartphones this year are expected to come with more memory. The rumoured Vivo Xplay 7, for example, is rumoured to come with 10 gigs of RAM. Still, Xiaomi may offer a 6GB variant for the Mi 7 as well.
Moving over to the cameras, the screenshot reveals that the Mi 7 will bear dual camera setup with a pair of 16-megapixel lenses. This will likely be seen on the back while the front may see a single 16-megapixel sensor as well, as per past reports. Internal storage is listed as 128GB, but Xiaomi could launch a 64GB storage variant as well. The flagship will run Android Oreo-based MIUI 9 out-of-the-box as is expected.
Notably, while the Mi 6 came with a 3350mAh battery capacity, the Mi 7 could house a larger 4480mAh battery as per the screenshot. As the leaked specs cannot be verified for authenticity, you should take them with a pinch of salt. The Mi 7 is rumoured to be unveiled some time in April. In the meantime, Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Mi Mix 2s at MWC 2018 later this month. The smartphone is expected to come with an edge-to-edge display with a fantastically large screen-to-body ratio and will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset, among other things.
